In discussing the activities of the G20, Dmitry Medvedev and Stephen Harper touched on problems relating to global financial regulation and international financial institutions reforms, exchanged opinions on the crisis in the Euro zone and measures for overcoming it. Both sides stated their satisfaction at having the same or similar positions on these issues.
The President of Russia expressed support for the initiatives proposed by the Prime Minister of Canada for the G8 summit in Toronto, particularly with regard to additional efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in developing nations, and promoting mathematics education in African countries. It was noted during the conversation that the Russian side is prepared to present specific suggestions for practically implementing these efforts.
Dmitry Medvedev and Stephen Harper also discussed matters of cooperating on certain current international problems.
