The Agreement, drafted in accordance with existing contractual practice, Russian laws and international standards, was signed in St Petersburg on May 28, 2015, with a view to developing the international legal framework of Russian-Sri Lankan cooperation on extradition issues.
Under the Agreement, the parties undertake, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the Agreement’s provisions, to extradite, upon request of either party, individuals on the other party’s territory wanted for criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence in the requesting country.
