During the meeting the Russian Ministry of Education and Science reported on developing documents for Russian language proficiency requirements for foreign citizens, and recognising international educational documents for Russian citizenship applications.

The Commission reviewed 29 applications to change citizenship status: 24 people have applied for Russian citizenship, and 4 want their Russian citizenship annulled.

Presidential Aide Yevgeny Shkolov chaired a meeting of the Presidential Commission for Citizenship Issues.

The Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department and the Federal Migration Service presented reports on how their departments are enforcing legislation on citizenship.

The commission examined 31 applications to change citizenship status: 19 people have applied for Russian citizenship, 4 people want their Russian citizenship restored, and 8 people have applied to have their Russian citizenship annulled.

Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov presented a report at the meeting on implementation of the presidential instruction on drafting the legal documents and regulations related to introducing official state tests for Russian-language skills of foreigners and recognising foreign education diplomas and certificates when deciding on applications for Russian Federation citizenship.

The commission examined 20 applications for change of citizenship: 12 people applied for Russian citizenship, 3 people wanted their Russian citizenship restored, and 5 people applied to have their Russian citizenship annulled.

A meeting of the Commission for Citizenship Issues was chaired by Presidential Aide Yevgeny Shkolov.

The Commission reviewed materials on 41 applications to change citizenship status, including 21 on granting Russian citizenship, 17 on restoring Russian citizenship and three on renouncing Russian citizenship. Besides, 33 written appeals on citizenship matters were examined.

In addition, the meeting addressed issues pertaining to practical enforcement of legislation on citizenship of the Russian Federation.

The meeting examined applications from 27 people requesting citizenship changes, of which 14 sought Russian citizenship, 10 sought to restore their Russian citizenship, and 3 sought to have their Russian citizenship annulled.

Two written applications on Russian citizenship matters were also examined.

The Commission heard proposals from the Federal Migration Service and the Foreign Ministry on amendments to Russian citizenship laws.

The meeting participants heard a report by the Federal Migration Service on amending the Regulations for Reviewing Citizenship Issues in the Russian Federation, approved by the President of the Russian Federation’s Executive Order of November 14, 2002, in part concerning the acquisition of Russian citizenship based on the Russian Federation’s international agreements.

Moreover, participants examined the materials on changing the citizenship status of 29 individuals, and discussed other problems concerning Russian citizenship.

Coordinated decisions were made based on the results of all the materials examined.
