A Russian-Ukrainian summit in Moscow ended with the two countries’ presidents issuing a joint declaration reflecting the desire of both countries to develop economic and humanitarian cooperation, advance their political dialogue and work together on a broad range of international issues.

In international affairs, Russia and Ukraine expressed their support for strengthening the role of the UN, resolving the world’s problems through collective approaches, and creating a stable and secure Europe without dividing lines.

Dmitry Medvedev said that these statements are already going hand-in-hand with active work in all areas and will be bolstered by specific agreements at presidential, governmental and ministerial level.

Mr Medvedev said that Ukraine remains one of Russia’s most important partners in the CIS region and that Russia is ready to support Ukraine’s interests in various international forums, including the G8, G20, and the international financial institutions.
