Oleg Kozhemyako noted that the eastward pivot in the state’s economic policy is yielding tangible results. The region continues to maintain positive economic momentum. Investment grew by approximately 150 billion rubles last year. Strong growth was recorded in agriculture (35 percent), industry (nine percent), and investment (seven percent), while 1.4 million square metres of housing were commissioned. Preferential regime and the Far Eastern mortgage programme are also having a positive impact.
This year, despite certain problems, the region’s GRP growth has remained at 4.4 percent.
According to the governor, addressing economic issues also helps resolve problems related to supporting those currently serving at the front. Significant attention is also being paid to employment opportunities for those returning. A vocational retraining system has been established: 971 people have completed retraining and found employment, while around 700 family members have received training through tuition-free courses at colleges. Of the 305 people with disabilities, 218 have also completed retraining and are being employed.
Rehabilitation efforts are also underway. A rehabilitation centre opened last year, and 369 people have already completed rehabilitation there. A building for another centre is currently under construction, and land has been allocated for a federal rehabilitation centre on the seashore, in a scenic location.
Regarding economic development, the governor noted that six of the ten projects the President had just launched during a videoconference were located in Primorye.
In addition, Oleg Kozhemyako and the President discussed joint plans with the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory to fast-track the reconstruction of the Vladivostok–Khabarovsk motorway. According to the governor, approximately 87 km of the 530-km road have been renovated, while 21 bridges remain in disrepair.
