Law on ratifying agreement with Switzerland on recognising hallmarks on timepieces made from precious metals

The President signed the Federal Law On Ratifying the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Federal Council of the Swiss Confederation on the Mutual Recognition of Hallmarks on Timepiece Products Made from Precious Metals.

The Agreement was signed in Moscow on December 14, 2011.

In accordance with the Agreement, upon import into the Swiss Confederation (or the Russian Federation), watchmaking industry products made from precious metals that have a manufacturer’s hallmark and an official hallmark of the Russian Federation (or Swiss Confederation), which includes a legally established testing standard, are not subject to new testing, analysis or hallmarking in the Swiss Confederation (or Russian Federation) if the given products conform to the stipulations of the legislation of the Swiss Confederation (or Russian Federation) and the Agreement.

During customs inspections, timepieces made from precious metals must be presented to the responsible agency that verifies the presence of the official hallmark imprint on the product and the legally established testing standard of the Swiss Confederation (or Russian Federation).
