The Federal Law is aimed at protecting the economic interests of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
For this purpose, the provisions of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which stipulates criminal punishment for the evasion of customs payments chargeable to organisations or individuals, committed on a large or especially large scale, will also be applicable to persons for the evasion of any special, antidumping and/or compensation duties that can be introduced in accordance with the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, signed on May 29, 2014.
