Earlier in the day, the President met with current Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov and accepted his request to be allowed to step down from his post.
Mr Putin also signed Executive Order On Early Termination of the Mandate of the Head of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, which releases Mr Kanokov from his duties, and appointed Yury Kokov acting head of the region.
