Trip to St Petersburg
On April 23, Vladimir Putin visited the Severnaya Verf Shipyard and took part in the keel-laying ceremony for two Project 22350 frigates – the Admiral Amelko and the Admiral Chichagov.
During a videoconference Vladimir Putin watched from the Severnaya Verf Shipyard the keel-laying ceremony for two large landing ships – the Vasily Trushin and the Vladimir Andreyev – at the Yantar Baltic Shipyard in Kaliningrad, and the launch of the Belgorod nuclear-powered submarine at the Sevmash Production Association in Severodvinsk.
Then the Supreme Commander-in-Chief visited the St Petersburg Suvorov Military Academy of the Defence Ministry and was informed about the curriculum, living conditions and recreation of its cadets.
The President also visited the construction site of the previously planned court complex on Dobrolyubova Prospekt. Vladimir Putin supported the initiative to create a park zone instead of Supreme Court and judicial buildings in this location in the historic centre of St Petersburg.
The President held a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) at its headquarters. The participants summed up the RGS’s 2018 performance and presented this year’s projects. RGS medals and certificates of merit were presented at the meeting.
On the same day, Vladimir Putin met with Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder.
On April 24, Vladimir Putin, via videoconference, gave the signal to launch the first transfer of LNG onto the tanker Coral Anthelia at the new Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG plant in Vysotsk, Leningrad Region.
The President concluded his visit to the northern capital by holding a meeting with the members of the Council of Legislators.
