The President visited the Memorial Complex in Memory of the Fallen in the Great Patriotic War and the Central Front Command Centre Memorial Complex, where Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky had his command headquarters during the battles. Mr Medvedev placed flowers before the monument to the victorious Soviet soldiers and a bust of Marshal Rokossovsky and visited the restored dugout and museum exhibitions at the memorial complex.
The President then met with veterans of the Battle of Kursk, discussing with them issues concerning social provisions for Great Patriotic War veterans and war invalids. Mr Medvedev said in particular that all veterans should be provided with housing by 2010.
