Speaking at the ceremony Vladimir Putin said Russia believed that any uni-polar political concept had no future.

The Russian leader said only well thought-out and agreed-upon decisions consolidated the potential of the international community and made it possible to jointly combat such global threats as international terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the militarisation of outer space and trans-border crime.

The President said that stereotypes concerning traditional world order concepts were now being discarded, and that such concepts were being modified in order to deal with new objectives. According to Vladimir Putin, it is possible to establish a genuine and justified international system based on the rule of law and respect for the interests of every state, and that such a system could provide equal security for all states.

The President said Russia planned to advance new initiatives in global and regional processes.

Vladimir Putin received credentials from the Ambassadors of Latvia, Brazil, Tajikistan, Ghana, Italy, Spain, Algeria, Bosnia, Malaysia and Luxembourg.
