They discussed important aspects of the judicial reform’s implementation. Vladimir Putin said that a legislative package on protecting the interests of private individuals and legal entities had been passed last year. He also said the heads of top courts and the Government must now facilitate in its implementation.
President Putin said Russia was capable of financing the implementation of such laws, and that most allocations must be spent on raising the wages of judges and improving the facilities and equipment of the courts.
The meeting focused on farmland sales and purchases, and said that the national farmland market would prove to be useful and civilised if it was managed separately.
President Putin noted the need to bring regional legislations in conformity with the Russian Constitution.
The meeting also discussed trials by jury, due to be introduced nationwide starting January 1, 2003, and about the enforcement of the Labour and Criminal Codes.
