During the talk the two leaders discussed relevant international issues and various aspects of Russian-Spanish relations.
Exchanging opinions on the situation in Iraq, the Russian President stressed that the political and diplomatic means of solving the Iraq problem have been far from exhausted and in the current conditions coming to collective decisions within the UN framework assumes particular importance. Russia is prepared for such work in partnership.
Vladimir Putin and Jose Maria Aznar also touched upon the issue of Russia-EU negotiations on Kaliningrad. Both sides noted the need for intensive joint work in order to achieve constructive solutions. The Russian President stressed that the settlement of that body of problems would be crucial for the further development of the relations between Russia and the European Union.
