Speaking at a meeting on tax administration issues, President Vladimir Putin noted that the tax system has been functioning quite effectively of late.

But the President also noted the need to pay constant attention to tax administration practice and keep note of the mood of economic actors, what adjustments should be made and how recently adopted laws are working in practice.

Proposals have been made to the government to amend tax legislation in order to remove ambiguities in the interpretation of some of its provisions.

Mr Putin supported the idea of optimising tax inspection procedures and particularly stressed the need for a careful and balanced approach to making amendments to tax legislation.
