Meeting with Russian medal winners at the XII Para-Olympic Games, the 2004–2005 XX Deaf Olympics, the 2005 World Winter Special Olympics and the winners of the 2004 President\'s Cup for football.

Speaking at a meeting with Russian medal winners at the XII Para-Olympic Games, the 2004–2005 XX Deaf Olympics, the 2005 World Winter Special Olympics and the winners of the 2004 President’s Cup for football, President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of developing adaptive sport in Russia.

This issue did not get sufficient attention for many decades. But adaptive sport can change people’s lives, change the way society looks at them, give them a fuller life.

Today, the situation is gradually changing. Financing for competitions has increased, as has the number of presidential grants for national team members and their trainers.

Mr Putin said that the state would continue increasing support for adaptive sport and would attract federal, regional and private resources.
