President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa

A guard of honour of the Canadian armed forces was lined up at the National War Memorial in Confederation Square in the centre of Ottawa. A military orchestra played the anthems of Russia and Canada.

Mr and Mrs Putin signed the distinguished guests’ book.
