Mr Kazmin informed the head of state about the Bank's results in 2006. Despite an sizeable increase in competition, Sberbank's economic indicators remained stable and at quite a high level.
Sberbank was the first Russian bank to issue additional shares in accordance with the new legislation. Andrei Kazmin also noted that investor interest in Sberbank's shares continues to hold steady.
They also touched on the Bank's lending activities. In answer to the President's question, the head of Sberbank emphasised that the main emphasis of Sberbank's lending policy consists in protecting depositors' interests. Advances in this area have allowed Sberbank to issue more than 200 billion rubles in mortgage loans, including 30 billion rubles within the Young Family programme.
Sberbank Russia plans to increase the capital of its branch in Kazakhstan. Andrei Kazmin said that after this increase the branch will number among the ten largest banks in Kazakhstan. The head of Sberbank is optimistic about the development options of the banking sector in Kazakhstan.
