Belgrade
President Putin with President Vojislav Kostunica of Yugoslavia.
Expanded Russian-Yugoslav negotiations.

At an expanded meeting, co-chairmen of the joint Russian-Yugoslav commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation delivered their reports. Participants stated that following a certain fall in trade caused by hostilities in Yugoslavia, it showed some growth last year.

Particular attention was paid to the supply of energy sources to Yugoslavia, and it was agreed to provide them in amounts required for the country’s social and economic stability.

Mr Putin and Mr Kostunica said they favoured the holding of a regional conference that could speak up for border inviolability in the Balkans, the territorial integrity of the countries concerned, and the rights of ethnic minorities.

At the end of the negotiations, at a news conference, President Putin read a statement.
