Mr Putin informed Mr Jiang of positive advances made in the establishment of a new Russia-NATO cooperation mechanism, and of a planned summit on Russia-NATO relations in Italy on May 28.
Mr Putin and Mr Jiang described the process of creating a new format of relations between Russia and NATO as an important step towards the strengthening of international security. They emphasised the fundamental importance of further reinforcing Russian-Chinese teamwork, both at the bilateral level and in a multilateral format – in the UN, within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and other international organisations.
