The President’s message reads, in part:
“Army General Deynekin was an outstanding military commander and a highly experienced and courageous pilot. His top-notch professionalism and devotion to duty were always in demand for the most responsible and complex jobs. Mr Deynekin always carried out his missions with honour and was a role model for his colleagues and subordinates.
These qualities will remain in the memory of his loved ones, friends, colleagues and all who knew this wonderful person and a true patriot”.
Soviet and Russian commander, Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet and Russian Air Force, Army General, Hero of Russia, holder of more than 20 Soviet, Russian and foreign military medals, doctor of military science, professor Pyotr Deynekin died on Saturday of a heart attack at the age of 79.
