Visiting Vysotsky House in Taganka Museum Centre

Ahead of the 80th birth anniversary of the poet and actor Vladimir Vysotsky, the President visited the Vysotsky House in Taganka Museum Centre.

Vladimir Putin examined a display dedicated to Vladimir Vysotsky’s life and creative work and familiarised himself with a design to restore the museum centre.

The President also visited a rehearsal of the theatrical production titled “Hello, Vladimir Vysotsky” and had a brief conversation with the young actors involved in the production.

The Vysotsky House in Taganka’s collection boasts 52,799 depositary items, including documents, manuscripts, photographs, photographic negatives, arts and crafts, paintings, prints, coins, and more.

On February 1, 2018, the museum will start working on a new multimedia display. The display areas will be expanded as well.

Vladimir Vysotsky (January 25, 1938 – July 25, 1980) was a Soviet poet, actor and highly popular performer of his own songs. He played over 20 roles at the Taganka Theatre of Drama and Comedy in Moscow, including the titles roles in Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Life of Galileo by Bertold Brecht, Lopakhin in The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov, as well as nearly 30 film roles.
