Promotion of mass sports is a key goal and priority for Russia. We will continue to focus on modernising sports infrastructure, training highly skilled specialists, mentors and teachers. It is important to make sure that each person, regardless of age or profession, can practice his or her favourite sport, because sport builds character and strengthens will, teaches one to overcome obstacles and persevere in achieving goals. What is more, it is the sports and fitness movement and school training clubs that served as the initial stepping stone for many of our celebrated athletes and record holders on their way to the top.”
