The message of greetings reads, in part:
“It is gratifying to know that these wonderful competitions that are aimed at strengthening the ideals of Olympism, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, and enhancing friendship and understanding among young people from different countries are again being hosted by Russia and Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan. The republic has gained much experience in organising and holding major and prestigious events like this one.
The Winter International Children’s Games held here in 2013 with great success became a real festival for the participants and spectators. They were remembered for the special warmth and hospitality with which the residents of Ufa met their guests.
And, of course, I will note that, by tradition, the state is paying special attention to the development of sports for children and young people. We have built a modern sports and recreation infrastructure. We have stadiums, training and health-building facilities with the most modern equipment. Many guests at the games will soon have an opportunity to see this for themselves.”
