The President’s message reads, in part:
“Over many years now you have contributed greatly to affirming the ideals of peace, goodness and compassion. You oversee not only the building of churches but also hospitals and schools, and the opening of missionary and cultural centres. You have considerably strengthened the position and influence of Orthodoxy on the African continent over your years of spiritual service.
Your contribution to defending the unity of Orthodoxy and expanding constructive dialogue among the Christian churches is particularly essential.
We value the attention you give to developing fruitful cooperation with the Russian Orthodox Church, the spiritual care you show for our compatriots, and your goodwill towards Russia, with which you have strong ties.”
