The law regulates relations in the area of organising the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Paralympics in Sochi and the development of Sochi as an alpine resort.
In particular, the law enables the transfer to Krasnodar Region of Russian Federation powers to dispose of land in federal ownership, and to regulate the financing of cadastre work.
Furthermore, the law sets out particular provisions regarding state environmental evaluation reports of project documents for Olympic facilities located on land in specially protected nature conservation zones of federal importance.
