June 9, 2023

The 2022 Russian Federation National Award for outstanding achievements in charity activity has been presented to Yulia ZIMOVA.

Yulia Zimova was born on October 7, 1987. In 2009, she graduated from Russian State University for the Humanities. Deputy Chair of the Civic Chamber Commission on Demography and the Protection of Family, Children and Traditional Family Values. Head of the Department of Priority Projects and Strategic Initiatives of the Russian Popular Front (ONF). Awarded the distinctive mark For Beneficence.

Ms Zimova founded a number of large charity projects. In 2016–2018, she developed and introduced a nationwide monitoring system for orphanages to establish if they comply with the provisions of the Government’s resolution on reforming the children’s homes system.

Since 2018, Ms Zimova has been a member of the Government Coordinating Council for the Decade of Childhood in Russia. She heads a working group on protecting children left without parental care.

Since the start of the special military operation, Ms Zimova has organised smooth and effective work of the ONF social bloc for humanitarian aid in the Rostov Region and in the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics.

Ms Zimova has dealt directly with medical issues, assistance to families with children, elderly people and people with limited mobility, provision of medicine to forced migrants, evacuation of people with limited mobility and providing them with assistive devices.

Ms Zimova took part in organising and accompanying the first humanitarian convoy to Mariupol on March 20, 2022. Together with partner charity foundations, she organised purchase of 3,000 sets of clothes for Mariupol residents.

Ms Zimova managed the effort to send dozens of children for high-tech medical surgical operations, organised the admission of 51 orphans to higher and vocational educational institutions, on-site medical examination and dental treatment for 350 children from children’s homes in the DPR and the LPR and the transfer of over 100 prams to young parents.

Owing to Ms Zimova’s efforts, two large mobile medical complexes were delivered and put into operation in the DPR and the LPR. Teams of doctors were formed. They conducted medical examination of over 3,500 children using mobile complexes.

ONF team of social specialists working under Ms Zimova’s supervision, became the main unit helping volunteers and non-profit organisations to work in the new territories. Doctors, psychologists, rehabilitologists and social workers arrive and form brigades that are provided with accommodation, food and the necessary instruments and medications.

Ms Zimova is helping civilian and military medical institutions receive supplies of equipment, expendables, medications and assistive rehabilitation devices for patients. Thus, equipment for performing subcutaneous operations on the wounded were purchased for the Donetsk Republican Traumatology Centre.

An international humanitarian mission was organised under the ONF auspices. Activists from Israel and Germany arrive, bringing humanitarian aid and shooting videos of civilians coming under shelling. These materials are streamed on social media for their national audiences.
