Instructions following joint session of presidiums of Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts and the Presidential Council for Science, Technology and Education, as well as meeting with historians

Dmitry Medvedev signed a list of instructions following the joint session of presidiums of Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts and the Presidential Council for Science, Technology and Education, as well as the meeting with historians held on July 22. The joint session was devoted to preparations for celebrating the 1150th anniversary of Russia’s statehood in 2012.

The Government of the Russian Federation has been instructed to consider declaring 2012 the Year of Russian History in the Russian Federation. The Government also received instructions on holding a Russia-wide open contest of scientific, literary, musical and artistic works, as well as screenplays, devoted to Russian history; financing socially important film projects on Russia’s history; and improving the accounting and registration system for objects of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, as well as their preservation and management.

The Education and Science Ministry has been instructed to create a Russian Historical Society and hold a National Olympiad for schoolchildren on the origins and development of Russia’s statehood.

The Communications and Mass Media Ministry has been instructed to work with the Education and Science Ministry and the Russian Academy Sciences on holding tenders for the development of multimedia products on the Russian History, and to create a national educational Internet portal devoted to Russia’s history.

The Foreign Ministry has been instructed to work on organising joint trilateral events together with representatives from Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus as part of celebrations to mark the 1150th anniversary of Russia’s statehood.
