Maria Lvova-Belova helped repatriate 26 children from Syria to Russia

Doctors from the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital named after Pirogov and the Russian Centre of Forensic Medical Expertise the Russian Healthcare Ministry accompanied the children all the way from Syria to Russia. Officials at the Russian Embassy in Damascus, Senator Konstantin Basyuk, service personnel from the Russian Armed Forces group in the Syrian Arab Republic, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Russian National Defence Control Centre also provided assistance.

Upon their arrival, the children will undergo medical examination at a federal clinic in Moscow and rehabilitation at the Moscow Resource Centre of Family and Childhood Support. The Serbsky National Medical Research Centre of Psychiatry and Narcology and Moscow’s State University of Psychology and Education are providing substantial assistance.

According to Maria Lvova-Belova Lvova-Belova Maria Lvova-Belova MariaPresidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights , authorities will help families obtain the required documents. Regional human rights commissioners will help with education and medical treatment issues, as well as with social support measures.

As instructed by the President, the Children’s Commissioner has been coordinating the humanitarian mission to repatriate Russian children from the Middle East region since 2018. In all, 592 children from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkiye, including this group, have already been repatriated to Russia.
