The message reads, in part:
“Russia and Palestine are linked by the traditional relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. Russia has always supported the implementation of the Palestinians’ legitimate interests and aspirations.
I would like to reaffirm Russia’s position of principle with respect to a comprehensive, fair and lasting solution to the Palestinian problem on the universal basis of international law, a solution that should result in the creation of a viable Palestinian State within the 1967 borders and wwwcapital in East Jerusalem, which will coexist peacefully with its neighbours.
As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a participant in the Middle East quartet of international intermediaries, Russia is ready to continue to actively contribute to the resumption of Palestinian-Israeli talks and the restoration of Palestinian unity. We will continue to provide all-round assistance to the Palestinian authorities in their efforts to strengthen state institutions and settle current socioeconomic problems.”
The President of Russia also wished health and success to Mahmoud Abbas and a peaceful, happy and prosperous life in their homeland to the friendly Palestinian people.
