On the sidelines of the forum, Ruslan Edelgeriyev met with delegations from Uzbekistan, the UAE, Bahrain, Afghanistan and Yemen to discuss cooperation on combatting climate change, achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, developing bilateral trade and economic relations, and youth issues. The sides confirmed their interest in cooperating with Russia on a wide range of matters.
During the session on Sberbank's work on developing partnership financing, the participants discussed a planned experiment involving the introduction of Islamic banking in Bashkortostan, Daghestan, Tatarstan and Chechnya. Ruslan Edelgeriyev called on credit institutions to be active in developing new instruments and establishing a dialogue with representatives of the Muslim Ummah. The Adviser to the President noted that the creation of transparent conditions for the development of the Islamic economy would enable the attraction of additional funds to solve urgent social issues.
