Taking part in the wreath-laying ceremony, dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, were Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, heads of other ministries and government agencies, Great Patriotic War veterans, military commanders, and members of the public.
A ceremony was concluded with a solemn parade by the Moscow garrison troops.
Mr Putin also laid flowers at the memorials before the Kremlin wall honouring the hero-cities and the cities of military glory.
