Meeting with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Meeting with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.

International relations have not become more stable of late. Voices in various quarters suggest that the United Nations is not managing to find solutions for the complex problems the world faces. Mr Putin noted, however, that without the United Nations, it is not known how international relations would develop, and emphasised that that there is no other effective instrument for resolving international issues today.

Moscow highly values the efforts of Kofi Annan and of the United Nations overall to regulate crises. Russia has always firmly supported the United Nation’s work to effectively regulate the situation in the world.

The President noted that the fact that Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations has been made foreign minister confirms once again the importance that Russia places on developing ties with the UN.
