The President of Russia congratulated Mr Hatoyama on his election as Prime Minister. Mr Medvedev noted that Mr Hatoyama is quite familiar with Russia, which should be conducive to building cooperation between the two nations.
The President stressed that Russia is ready to discuss any aspects of its bilateral relations with Japan, including the complicated ones.
In addition to matters of bilateral cooperation, Dmitry Medvedev and Yukio Hatoyama reviewed problems related to North Korea’s nuclear programme.
