Visit to Israel

The President of Russia paid a working visit to Israel, where he took part in commemorative events marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Red Army and International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled the Memorial Candle monument in Jerusalem dedicated to the heroic defenders and residents of besieged Leningrad. The Russian President also addressed the Remembering the Holocaust: Fighting Antisemitism international forum and presented the Order of Courage to a relative of Leon Feldhendler, hero of the uprising at the Sobibor death camp.

In addition, Vladimir Putin had separate meetings with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and President of Israel Reuven Rivlin.
